Dr. Houman Abtin graduated in 1998 from dentistry. Shortly after his graduation he moved to Manitoba where he practiced in remote communities for 2 years. In 2002 he returned to BC and he was involved in teaching part-time at UBC till 2012.  He had his own family dental practice in South Delta prior to deciding to pursue 3 years of Graduate Endodontic program at UBC in 2008.  At UBC he received teaching and scholarship awards. He was a clinical assistant professor at UBC. He is in private practice in Northshore Endodontic Centre.

Dr. Abtin is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics.  A Diplomate is an Endodontist who has made significant achievements beyond the mandatory educational requirements of the speciality.  This is one of the highest levels of recognition in the world in the field of Endodontics.

He is a fellow of the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia, A fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, and a member of the Canadian and American Association of Endodontists.
